St. Lucia is known as the suburb where the University of Queensland, considered one of the top 50 universities in the world, is located. Now another lesser known educational institution in St. Lucia is quickly coming into the limelight as people – and the media – discover its greatness.

The Ironside State School, founded in 1870, is one of Brisbane’s ought after schools and consistently ranks as one of two top performing academic facilities in the city, the other being the University of Queensland. According to the NAPLAN, Ironside’s 2015 scores ( “2015 scores” links to: ironside naplan 2015.png ) ranked substantially above the average for all Australian schools for Reading, Persuasive Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy for Grades 3 and 5.
